The Leeds Law League was started in late 1983 to cater for the increasing
popularity of 5-A-Side Football amongst members of the professions in
Leeds.
The League started with just four teams - Pearlman Grazin; Morrish & Co, Nelson & Co and Leeds Bar.
In its second season, the League expanded to eight teams, and to twelve in the third season.
In Season 4, a second division was added and the Kelden Cup, now the Harrison Willis Cup,
(the Law League's version of the F.A. Cup) introduced.
Since then, the League has gone from strength to strength, and after restructuring in 1991 and 2004, now
contains 48 teams in 3 Divisions, and includes members of many different professions.
Every week all teams are in action. Competition is intense but the League
puts a strong emphasis upon sportsmanship and fair play.
Over the years, the Law League has developed strong links with local commerce and industry; BBC Radio Leeds; Yorkshire Television
; and with Yorkshire Post newspapers. Throughout, the Law League has also benefitted from a close relationship with Leeds United AFC and with
the Leeds United Ex-Players Association.
The League, recognised as a leading local League, has a number of national and international connections. A number of Law League teams
have been on tours in the U.K. and abroad.
Twenty Eight years on, the Leeds Law League is now recognised as one of the leading 5-A-side leagues in the country.
The League is always looking for new members.
